The Story of a Photographer

Hello.

My name is Allison Holmberg

The first "real" camera I ever held was my uncle's way back when and I just knew I wanted one for myself. I was always using my parent's cameras and asking for my own until I got one. I then took a photography class my freshman year of high school and I was using my tiny, turquoise digital camera. The pictures that came out of that camera were awful, but that didn't matter because using it made me happy. I learned about the rule of thirds, photo journalism (and journalism in general), and that I thrive when my creativity is allowed to flourish.

Recently, I had a discussion with my brothers about my photography. I had the realization that my journey truly started when I took my oldest son's cake smash photos back in 2018 for his first birthday. I was using a borrowed camera and not-so-great editing software, but despite that, I fell even more in love with the art of photography. A few months after the cake smash session, I purchased my first DSLR camera. It was a used Sony a200 with a few lenses, a tripod, and a few other accessories. With that camera, I took my youngest son’s first pictures and countless images of both of my boys, my friends, and family. It moved with us from one house to another and from Oklahoma to Virginia. The camera found its final resting place in the hands another growing photographer in Norfolk, Virginia. I upgraded to a Sony a6100, and then a few years later to a Sony a7ii, which is my current and most favorite camera. I’ve had spares here and there, but they don’t/didn’t get used nearly as much so I guess they don’t really have much memories tied to them.

Shortly after my youngest son was born, I decided I wanted to make a name for myself in terms of photography and so, EverJack Photography was born. The name comes from a combination of my children’s names. I loved that name and still do, but in 2022, I had this feeling that it just wasn’t the right name for my work. I felt as though it didn’t represent me well enough. After much deliberation, I finally decided on Allison Kendall Photography. This felt more professional and more like, well, me. I’ve tried to keep anything with the EverJack watermark off my website to avoid any confusion, but things slip through the cracks sometimes.

I don't like to categorize myself into any specific type of photography. I love to shoot everything! From weddings to food, family to landscape. If there's anything you need captured, I'm your girl. I am furthering my education in terms of photography in order to better myself and craft.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Thanks for reading.

Nice to meet you

A little bit more about me and less about photography:

I was born and raised in Oklahoma, but moved to Pensacola, FL with my husband, Danny, and our two children in October 2023. Before living in Florida, we lived in Virginia while Danny was in the United States Navy. I've been a stay at home mom since 2017. I'm a huge Taylor Swift fan, a lover of flowers and all things pink. I love babies. I love to write & swim and I'm a big advocate for mental health.

Back to photography-

I am a firm believer in everyone being able to get pictures done, regardless of financial status. So, if you would like to book a session, but can't necessarily afford my prices, please reach out to me and we will figure something out together,
